Location
Niue (pronounced /new-ay/ in English) is an island nation in the South Pacific Ocean and is 2,400 kilometres northeast of New Zealand in a triangle between Tonga, Samoa, and the Cook Islands.  The people are predominantly Polynesian.  (Elevation: 21 meters, Latitude: 19 04S, Longitude: 169 55W).

It is commonly known as the "Rock of Polynesia", and natives of the island call it "The Rock".

The time difference between Niue and mainland New Zealand is -23 hours during the Southern Hemisphere winter and -24 hours when the mainland uses Daylight Saving Time.

Air New Zealand flies to Niue once a week departing Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday morning.  It is approximately a 3.5 hour flight.  Since Niue is positioned on the opposite side of the international date line to New Zealand, you arrive into Niue on the Friday afternoon.  When you depart Niue, you leave on a Friday afternoon, and arrive into Auckland, New Zealand late Saturday afternoon.

Namukulu Cottages & Spa
is about 10km north of the main town of Alofi on the sheltered west-side of the island near the coast.  The airport is about 12km away and is a very pleasant drive through a number of small villages and plenty of tropical forests. The roads are sealed and offer a comfortable drive.

We are situated in a special location where many of the islands favourite swimming/snorkelling spots and caves/chasms are all within 3 kms of us.

These include Matapa Chasm, Talava Arches, Limu Pools, Hio Beach, Palaha Cave and Avaiki Cave.
